Extreme Food Greed

My daughter has a 6 year old Aussie. Generally well mannered and responds well to commands. The only thing that is crazy is that this dog has extreme food greed. Daughter was not in her first two-ish years of life, so not sure if it got starved, but she wasn't a street dog and the dog was with her Ex from puppyhood. The Ex seemed to love the dog

You literally can't leave any food out or she will gorge. A few examples ... We left butter too close to the edge of the counter and she ate a whole stick. She got into her own kibble one time when daughter left it out, and it ate until it was sick. We trained her not to in-your-face beg, but she will watch you eat with a nervous energy that's visible. She got into and ate a whole thing of dry oat meal one time (daughter thought that was safe to leave on the counter ... NOPE) ... yes it was like passing bricks. (daughter admits to a little "that's what you get" satisfaction on that one. LOL )

We have always done self feed with our dogs, so they only ate when they were hungry and kept a great weight. Have never seen this obsession with food in a dog before. Any suggestions on how to work on reducing the food greed. She gets two meals a day and minimal snacks. On that she is at her perfect weight.
