Exactly what the title says - my husband and I recently brought home a Frenchie pup, and are needing tips/advice with integrating them and our older huskies. We plan on seeking a professional trainer once he is confidently potty trained, but any tips in the meantime are appreciated!
- the huskies are crate trained, and we are in the process of crate training the Frenchie.
Some behaviors I've noticed: - the 8 year old husky is interested in the Frenchie. She likes to be in the same room, and often comes up to sniff him/check him out (when he's out of the crate). However, when the Frenchie shows interest in her, (by turning his head to face her), the husky pulls her lips back and bares her teeth. She does not growl, and she only moved her head back slightly. Even with her teeth bared, she allows the puppy to actually LICK her teeth. I move the pup away, of course, and they're never together without my supervision. But I find it odd that the husky does not move away, growl, or even snap at the new pup. - our 5 year old husky is not as interested in the puppy, however, every once in a while she'll get the zoomies and want to play with him. She will bark (which is rare), wag her tail and lay on the floor with her butt in the air. When we do try to let them "play" - supervised, of course - (i.e., he ends up chasing her around the yard) she just runs away from him. She also growls and whines when he tries to play with ANY toys - whether they're "her" toys or specifically toys that we bought for him and ONLY let him use. Obviously, this is likely a separate issue with her and guarding/hoarding toys, but I appreciate any tips regardless!
(Also, happy to provide any clarification regarding any questions that y'all may have)
