Hello everyone, I am new to this page. My fiancé and I just recently adopted a one year old great Pyrenees/Anatolian shepherd mix. He is the biggest sweetheart in the entire world and is a very lovable dog. However, he is very stubborn when it comes to certain things. When we try to get him to walk, he will just sit put and won’t do anything until he is ready to move. Most of the time we have to carry him after a while because he won’t listen or walk on the leash with us. We are exposing him to Different places and taking him out with us as much as we possibly can. He’s very skittish of strangers right now. We reward him with high value treats like hot dogs, and pieces of him when he does listen. My mom is a dog trainer and is going to be helping us with him. I know this breed is very stubborn And does not typically aim to please their owners. How would we go about getting him to listen when it comes to walking and giving commands to get in the car and out of the car? Most of the time I have to pick him up and put him in the car. Sometimes he will jump out of the car when we tell him to but most of the times he will just sit there and look at us like we have three heads. any helpful information would be highly appreciated!
