Hi everyone,
I'm hoping to get some advice on how to help my sweet colliepoo overcome her persistent fear of everyday objects and situations. Despite our best efforts to create a safe and comfortable environment for her, she has always been easily frightened, even as a puppy (she's now 2 years old).
For example, she often runs away at the slightest noise and avoids joining us on the couch due to its slight movement. We even had to remove a rug from our living room because its slightest movement would cause her to run away to another room.
Unfortunately, today was particularly distressing when another dog chased her in the park, causing her to bolt onto the road. Luckily, she was called back by my partner, but this incident highlights the urgency of addressing her overwhelming fearfulness.
We would greatly appreciate any tips or guidance on how to help our furry friend cope with her constant anxiety and fear of everyday situations. It's also worth noting that she is not afraid of people or dogs slightly larger than her, and she has good leash control and listens to all our commands. Additionally, her mother is also a timid dog, so there may be some genetic traits at play.
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
