What to do and NOT TO DO when calling your dog!
Post Body

I was at the park today. A guy was calling his dog but i noticed that his dog didn’t show any engagement for both the dogs name or the command or his leash correction. Now yeah it was a pretty big rotty so this really shows why starting at the beginning building blocks is so important!

  1. Build your dogs engagement by getting his attention with only his name.
  2. Before adding a “cue” make sure your dog can follow the “come” command from a short distance first. Hold the handle of your leash so your dog doesn’t run off. Lure your dog from your dogs face and walk backwards!
  3. Practice without distractions first.
