What to do and NOT TO DO when calling your dog!

I was at the park today. A guy was calling his dog but i noticed that his dog didn’t show any engagement for both the dogs name or the command or his leash correction. Now yeah it was a pretty big rotty so this really shows why starting at the beginning building blocks is so important!
- Build your dogs engagement by getting his attention with only his name.
- Before adding a “cue” make sure your dog can follow the “come” command from a short distance first. Hold the handle of your leash so your dog doesn’t run off. Lure your dog from your dogs face and walk backwards!
- Practice without distractions first.
