Hi y'all,
So I have a 19 month old rescue heeler/catahoula/pit bull/a lot of other breeds. I've had him since he was 4 months old. He's an amazing dog. Incredibly smart and well behaved.
I'm looking for advice on his self soothing habits. Over the past few months I've noticed his lack of self soothing indoors. I used to be able to give him bones, chews, hooves, etc. and he would happily keep himself occupied for hours. However now, he just lays in his crate, even if I bring him home a stuffed trachea.
I've noticed that when we're outside together he's been showing an interest in sticks so I bought a coffee wood stick to replace it. He loves it, but he will only chew on it outdoors.
What can I do to encourage him to self soothe indoors again?
Any advice is appreciated!
