I want to start by saying that thinking about this is extremely difficult for me. My dog is my baby but I don’t know what to do. I’ve had my dog for four years now. She’s 5, a pitbull mix and has always been a very good dog. I’m moving into a house with a close friend of mine in a couple of weeks and she has a dog that’s her moms dog. I took my dog over to meet her dog and they were fine for over two hours, playing together and laying outside together then out of nowhere my dog attacked her and bit her. For context, her dog is five pounds and very fragile. That being said, my friend who I’m moving in with said that she understands if I want to keep my dog but that she won’t give her love anymore and wants nothing to do with her once we move into the house. She thinks that I should rehome her so that I can have a dog I trust with other dogs and not worry. But my dog, piper, is my baby and I love her so much. She’s the dog I got in college and has been through so much with me living in apartments. I was excited for her to have a house and a backyard. I’m so upset and confused as to why she bit my friends dog because she has NEVER done anything like that in the four years I’ve had her. That being said, I don’t want resentment to build on my roommates part because she’s still my friend and I care about her being comfortable in our home. I just don’t know what to do. Any advice you guys can offer would be extremely helpful. Should I rehome my dog?
