Attacked by large dog

Post Body

I am dog sitting for a family that has 3 large dogs and 1 tiny dog. The youngest, a 2 yr old Irish Wolfhound, attacked the oldest, a 14 yr old blind Shorkie poo. She had the shorkie poo in her mouth and shook her a few times before I was able to release her grip. There was blood everywhere!! And the shorkie poo has 2 wounds around her neck. I called the owners and informed them of the attack with pictures and they advised me not to take her to the vet. They said that it has happened numerous times before and that the shorkie will be fine?! I was able to clean the wounds but now the shorkie is refusing to leave the bedroom and moving slowly and constantly looks sad and scared. I feel absolutely terrible. I would really like to take her to the vet but don’t want to over step and then be stuck with an expensive vet bill. What should I do???? 😩😩😩

Definitely do this. Tell the owners you are in fear that the dog may not heal without vet intervention. I would rather an owner spend 200 on a vet visit than they come home, and their dog is dead.

Can I just say, thank you for saying this!
