Post Body

My dog keeps licking his back paws incessantly . It started way back in August 2023.

He is a black lab and husky mix. He is 2 years old and weighs 75lbs.

1 His vet thought it was the grass from the park he used to play in so we stopped going for a few weeks. She also said it might be the pollen or some other seasonal allergies. I also got a cone for him so he wouldn't be able to pick at night. It got better. I stopped going to the park completely and started walking him. After a few weeks he started licking again.

2 I decided to show him to a different vet. She thought it was the food allergies. She also recommended giving him a weekly bath. Gave him an injection, it was a steroid for itching I believe. Changing the food did not help.

3 Saw her again in two weeks, she gave him some steroids and antibiotics, he got a break for a month or so. I started giving him a weekly bath. It helped for some time and then again as the rain started he is back at licking his feet incessantly again.

So far in the three vet visits that I have had, he has received some relief each time he saw her but give it 3 weeks and he is back at licking. I have spent close to $1000 in three vet visits. I changed the vet once thinking maybe they are misdiagnosing.

At this point what I know is when it's moist outside due to rain or if grass is wet, the licking starts in a few days. This indicates it might be bacterial.

I would really appreciate if you have any tips or advice to share.
