My husband and I have had our mix beagle for 8 years, he’s going to be 9 in a few months. Before he started having g problems he weighed around 55lbs, slightly overweight for him. Starting in October he’s been having diarrhea. Not just loose stool but watery type diarrhea. We took him to the vet a 2 weeks after I tried resetting his gut by feeding him rice, chicken, and eggs. The vet put him on a low fat diet, steroids, anti inflammatory, stool hardener, and probiotics. Took him back 2 weeks later because it wasn’t helping. He gave us the same meds and another steroid and told us to call it if it didn’t help. He also took blood and his WBCs are high. We took him back again because we could tell he was getting lethargic. They checked his WBCs again and they were even higher. All his other labs seemed to be fine. So now we have a very underweight dog(last vet visit was 38lbs but that was 2 weeks ago), he’s so tired, weak, and has been refusing to eat much. The vet didn’t know what else to do but make a referral to internal medicine office that we can’t get into till 1/2. We’re just stuck. We feel awful for him and don’t know what else can do till then. To note we have another dog that’s completely healthy so whatever is going on it’s not communicable.
