Curious about something my dogs did

Post Body

To preface, all my dogs get along very well with each other and everyone is safe and feeling better now. I’m just curious about something that happened recently.

The smallest of our 3 dogs (all pit/husky mixes) has recently developed epilepsy. She’s had about 5 or 6 seizures since July and each time it’s happened our other 2 tend to look scared/concerned and will not leave her side. We don’t let them get too close to her during these seizures as we want to make sure all three are safe and she has space. They try to get as close as we’ll let them though (I try not to let them get any closer than maybe 2 feet away) and they always look scared/concerned. We have a hard time getting them to go to another room or out to the yard even though they are very good at listening under any other circumstance.

During her last episode (about a week ago) she had a seizure while my partner was outside with them all in the backyard. We have a concrete patio and a large area of grass back there. On the concrete, we have two chairs and a large umbrella that sits between them. My partner said that when our dog fell during the seizure, she landed on the concrete with her head close to the base of the umbrella. Apparently, when my other two dogs saw this they each grabbed her by a leg (one in front, one in back) and tried to drag her to the grass.

My partner said that it wasn’t hard to get them to let go of her and the only damage was a shallow , 2-3 inch wound in her front leg from one of my dogs teeth while they were trying to move her. I honestly think they were trying to drag her to safety or something, especially because our other female is the sweetest and most gentle dog I’ve ever met who would never hurt a fly. This isn’t something I’ve ever heard of though and I can’t find much info online. I’m wondering if I’m correct in my assumption and if there’s anything more that we can do to keep the other two calm while our third is having a seizure. We’re doing all we’ve been instructed to do to keep the little one safe and comfortable during and after the seizure but I just want to make sure the other 2 remain calm and don’t hurt her again trying to (presumably) help her. I appreciate any input and advice!
