I am looking for a Scavenger Hunt app, one where the host can create and pre-load QR codes with picture/text/video clues prior to the event and have the participants join the event by scanning the first QR code where they are provided with a check list that can only be completed when the clues (the QR codes) are scanned in order. So it would work like this:
Host creates a series of QR codes starting with the one to join followed by the subsequent QR codes that lead to the next in line via a series of picture/text/video clues, all preloaded into the event.
Participants scan the initial QR code which provides them with a numbered check-list, the first clue and "unlocks" the Clue QR codes. To anyone else these QR codes are useless without the App and the first one.
Upon completing the check-list the App reveals the location of the "Prize". As though each clue is a puzzle piece all coming together at the end to reveal the final picture.
I think with this kind of App it would be simple to create grand scale scavenger hunts with little effort, you could simply contact people across the country or even the world to print out your custom QR codes to hide in the appropriate locations and effectively create a small Amazing Race type of adventure.
I have seen many that have quiz elements that rely on the host checking answers and awarding points or deciding if the participant got the answer right but I am yet to find one where it simply works like connecting the dots between checkpoints like a traditional scavenger hunt.
If anyone knows of such an app, or has the skills to create the app I would very much like to know.
