Post Body

Desperately need help troubleshooting my 2003’s 4WD system. Obviously it worked fine until we get hit with a winter storm and tons of snow.

When I flip the selector switch to 4Hi, all of the lights flash (2WD, 4Hi, 4Lo, and the little red N down in the corner). After they flash a minute, “Service 4WD” comes up on the dash. This will eventually go away if I flip back to 2WD and drive normally for a couple miles.

Obviously 4WD isn’t engaging. I am NOT hearing the transfer case motor if I turn the key on and try to do it with the engine not running.

I’ve checked all fuses, everything looks good there.

I’m wondering if it’s a transfer case motor/encoder issue, or something else. Has anyone else ever experienced this before and can help me with other troubleshooting procedures?
