Hey folks,
Looking to replace the rack and pinion after a bad steering fluid leak. Confirmed by my mechanic.
Interested in doing it myself. I’m very mechanically inclined, but don’t do that much work on the truck.
I’ve got (what I think!) are the necessary tools; torque wrench, mallet, wrench sets, etc service manual for the truck.
Only thing I’m concerned about is running into unexpected problems! Cars at around 190,000 miles and I live by the ocean, so rust is common.
Mechanic quote is $1400, and the parts I’m looking at around probably going to end up at around $300-$350. Am I in over my head just to save $1,000?
Thanks!
