Help! My 6 month old boy was just diagnosed with Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD).
Post Body

Last night my 6 month old Doberman start acting really lethargic. I decided to watch him for the night, he slept fine and was drinking water but not eating. I thought maybe he was just really tired from his training session earlier but it wasn't like him to not be active.

This morning we woke up I took him outside to use the potty, his stool was an off orange color! He also felt so hot to the touch. We hopped in the car and went to the ER. He had a fever of 105.7!! When the vet touched his joints he snapped at him, which he has NEVER done. We had his blood tests done and some X-rays. The doctor believes it is HOD, but his tests have been sent to radiology for confirmation.

In the mean time the vet recommended a fluid treatment, pain killers, and an anti-inflammatory. His fever needs to come down or he will be hospitalized. I can tell he is in so much pain and it's killing me to see him like this! Has anyone had an experience with HOD and how did you make it comfortable for your pup? What did your vet do to help ease the pain?
