Pre-amble: I rolled 15,15,14,12,11,11 for some pretty middling stats but having no weaknesses. Given that I want to be kind of a do it all kind of character. That said, I felt half elf and bard were both necessary for the build. Giving 2 extra proficiencies and a 2, 1, 1 and then Jack of all trades respectively. (I also really want wish as a capstone to just, 'make it happen' when it's needed in end game which this character will have a high probability of hitting lvl 20 as long as I don't get stuck in a bad situation by the party or am not overly stupid with my actions.)
That being said my two concepts are Valor Bard 3/Genie Warlock 17. Or Lore Bard 18/Hexblade Warlock 2.
With Valor 3/Genie 17 I get medium armor and shields, Jack of all trades, and short rest recharge slots along with limited wish which is cool that I'd be getting this a bit earlier filling in some holes on occasion before getting wish as the capstone. This also means a bigger dip and bardics are only per long rest. But lots of invocations with unique utility options and I think here pact of the tome is interesting for all the rituals helping me to always have the appropriate thing to help (unless time is an urgent factor).
Now on the flip side with Lore Bard 18 and Hexblade 2 I still get medium armor and shields, Jack of all trades. But I also get Bardics back on a short rest, I get 3 extra proficiencies at 3rd level, I get a lot more spell slots, I get extra magical secrets for the 'Wait you can do that too?' moments, I still get 2 invocations which I would take agonizing blast and beguiling influence for the 2 extra skills and a reliable damage output along with being able to melee with charisma if necessary not to mention the ever useful hexblade's curse 1x a day. I also still get Wish as one of my level 18 magical secrets.
So I guess I leave it in the hands of you all, how do you think this would be best optimized? Do you believe one build would be significantly better or worse than the other, if so why? If you think one build is far superior to the other please explain how you'd optimize it if you have the time. As always I love and appreciate all the feedback.
