It's pretty much as simple as the title says. My players needed to get inside a tall castle tower as part of their mission, and my most sexy cleric player came up with a plan.
Essentially he bought a small rowboat from the port and carried it a la Pirates of the Caribbean to a water fountain about 500 feet from the base of the tower. (Most fountains in this city would be big enough for a 10' rowboat, and the city guards would see nothing suspicious about someone putting a dinghy in the community fountain, it's a roleplay thing.) Using Control Water (or was it Create Water? I can't be bothered to remember), and with everyone in the boat, he used it to fly the boat upwards and towards a skyship docking door (closed) within the ship (as opposed to the open docking door on the outside of the ship). I didn't bother to actually the spell, and in the moment it happened I simply allowed it because reading is hard. Once they neared the door, he had an absent player (not sexy, lvl 7) cast Enlarge/Reduce to shrink the door, allowing enough room to slide the boat in since they could control the boat like a go kart according to the sexy cleric (I guess its a OneDND rules update? Again, I can't be bothered to read it myself)
I had both players (I rolled for the one absent in a brilliant bit of playing with myself) roll Concentration checks, and the cleric succeeded (I set a DC after he rolled) while I (the absent player, not me the DM) rolled and failed. It didn't really matter though since the Cleric player used Redirect flow to make the water stand still and I was not going to allow something stupid like dice rolls determine an outcome anyway.
Once they got inside they got shot a whole bunch (something something cops in the USA pew pew pew) and the sexy cleric took a bullet (no disfiguring scars on the sexy sexy cleric), breaking concentration pretty much as soon as they entered. They didn't make it very far, getting pinned down in the hallway leading out of that room and getting jailed in a rather sexy way. Antimagic collars cuffs like in the D&D movie since Chris Pine is so sexy, but my draconic (dragonb*rn is a slur btw) player was able to melt her own cuffs but not the cell she was in for some reason.
I don't really know if I made the right decision. The lack of reading ability and me being flummoxed by how sexy the cleric is kinda led to me just rolling along with it with a few caveats, to the protest of the sexy cleric. Can the spell even be used in that way? I still can't be bothered to read the spell. What would you have done in that situation, on either side of rule of cool and rules lawyering? Please don't recommend I read the spell, I'd rather have someone here just tell me what to do so I don't have to make a decision myself. Also how much longer until the sexy cleric lets me see his holy symbol? 😏
