Hey guys! Very New to Terrain Building and Made Cardboard Wood Tiles! Would Painting Them be a Disaster???

Hey! So I really need help because I'm very excited about the texture I was able to get for these building wood tiles. But I'm concerned that maybe paint would soak in too wet and destroy my work lol Does anyone know what would happen if I did paint them this way? If it would probably work?
And if maybe there's another better solution out there. Thank you!
