Some assistance needed - WW2 Fantasy Setting
Post Body

So I've been working on creating a sort of home brew WW1/WW2 setting, however instead of technological advancement the world has advanced into the WW2 era using Magic and artifice. Similar to this Eberron that I just found and ordered when googling stuff for this post.

I'm mostly looking for any idea's to help fill out the rest of this setting with some sort of lore or logic behind the reasoning that lead to the current situation, or if there are any good references people could point me to. Mostly working on the bare bone details currently and not what the nations are doing/ect. I'll probably use the new Eberron book to help me some more of this idea out.

Means of Warfare

People who have ever read or watched Yōjo Senki might be able to recognize some of these concepts.

  • Airforce - replaced with flying mage units using various means of flight - Magical items / enchantments and the such.
    • Neither side could produce enough mages proficient in flight enough for combat or at adequate speeds during the first conflict to adequately damage the enemy forces and so mages mostly did reconnaissance missions.
    • During the interwar period various improved "flight magics" were researched and deployed by the various nations as well as actual spells and equipment to use in combat.
    • Dragons and other flying mounts?
  • Vehicles
    • Light motorized units > Armored Cavalry
    • Mechanized > Armored Cavalry but beasts instead of generic horses and the such
    • Tanks - Some sort of of armored large unit - I.E weaponized Minotaur's and Ogre's as well as creatures with ranged capabilities.
  • Infantry

    • Mostly medieval-Esq units - Imagine mass produced magical armor that makes most projectiles useless unless they are magical. Armed with mostly swords, maces, and the such
      • Armor is based on the concept of a sort of field that prevents projectiles from impacting the user aside from purely magical attacks and overwhelming force, functions almost entirely like normal armor in melee distances. Developed during the first great conflict this basically changed the landscape of warfare (Instead of the paradigm shift being towards killing large amounts of troops at once it shifted towards whoever could protect their troops better). Winning side in the first war won because they came up with a way to power the armor using the actual attacks it gets hit with.
    • Ranged units - With the costs required to mass produce magical equipment able to penetrate enemy armor most ranged weapons have been allocated to mage units or elite units on the ground.
      • Magical Artillery - ???

I'm considering heading in a sorta steampunk meets magic sorta thing but I'm wondering if that might make the stats and encounters alot more difficult to do.

Ill probably come back and edit this once my new book arrives lol.
