Hey guys! Was talking to my Dm about the movie “Everything Everywhere all at Once” and he thought it would be fun for the Echo to feel similar seeing how the Echo night is all about exploring alternate future timelines. I wrote of this homebrew to replace the level 7 Echo knight ability. First homebrew I’ve written and it feels very broken and I’m looking for way to balance it and make it easier to use, was hoping to get your thoughts!
Infinite Selfs Starting at 7th level:
You have become proficient in using your Echo to explore the many paths ahead of you. Your attention has turned to not just what could be, but what could’ve been. You are now able to peer into your past and see the infinite branching off points in your life; along with the people you could have become. You can now channel their power and imbue a small portion of it into your Echo.
With a DC 10 Wisdom check you are able to summon your Echo with one of the following abilities:
- One cantrip or level 1 spell slot from any classes spell table using that classes spell casting modifier
- One fighting style that replaces your own, along with the ability to transform two weapons of your choosing.
Example ( 1 short sword can become a 1 longbow with the same innate magical abilities)
Upon failure you’re not able to summon your Echo this turn, if you fail your DC wisdom check by 5 or more then your echo takes on a mind of its own, becoming a hostile threat against the summoner and maintains the abilities in which you attempted to imbue it with and can not be unsummoned as a bonus action.
This ability can be used to the amount equal to your proficiency bonus and can not be used again until a long rest.
