Post Body

(Me DM) My group had a huge fight after finishing the dungeon in my game tonight. The part leaves the dungeon with treasure in hand....

Treasure: 1 bag of 250 gold, a religious scroll worth 500 gold, and 4 religious masks each worth 75 gold.

As the party is selling all their findings to the church the cleric says, “This mask is of my god, I would like to keep it if possible”

The rogue and barb players agree, and sell everything else.... I step away from the table to get a can of soda, and I come back to everyone shouting and fighting (WTF).

I ask why they’re fighting the rogue player states that the barb player is short changing the cleric, I ask them to elaborate.....

The rogue states that the total should be: 325 gold per person.

Math as such: 500 (scroll) 250 (bag of gold) 225 (3/4 masks sold) = 975 total gold / 3 player = 325 Gold.

Barb counters with saying, “no this is the math” 500 (scroll) 250 (bag of gold) 75 (1/4 masks, each player keeping 1 mask) = 825 total gold / 3 players = 275 Gold and both the barb and rogue selling their individual masks worth 75 gold; Thus totaling 275 cleric 350 barb and rogue.

I sat down and watched as for 20 mins they fought back and forth writing out the math I tried to interject to add my input but was told that this is an argument amongst the players and not the DM, so I sat quietly until 1 player started crying and another straight left.

TL/DR: session and group ruined over roughly 50 gold
