A Dungeon and A Dragon: A Four to Six Hour Adventure for 11th-16th Level Characters [5E] (26 pages)
The Green Dragon Valturnax has attacked the nearby village of Hartsvale, threatening to destroy them completely if they do not submit to his rule by nightfall. To save the town, adventurers must ascend the mountain by climbing through the caves housing the dragon’s minions and face him in his lair– and they need to do so before the sun sets.
The adventure comes with 4 maps and 2 pages of stat blocks for the creatures used, as well as guidance on roleplaying key NPCs.
This adventure features:
Kobolds reminiscent of Tucker's kobolds
Cool monsters from Volo's guide to monsters, including very wild magic goblin sorcerers, crazed hill giants, and hobgoblin wizards
An adult green dragon who sweet talks the party, offers to hire them to kill his sister, and then breathes his ammonia breath all over them
And most importantly, it is quite challenging. I ran this yesterday and every character was downed at least once during the adventure. In the climactic dragon fight at the end, one character was actually killed permanently as he and the dragon (whose wings had been shredded and could no longer fly) plunged over the side of a cliff, dying a hero's death. That said, there is room to seed healing potions if your party starts to run out of hit die or if your party lacks a healer, so you can tailor the difficulty to your party.
Inspiration for how to run the green dragon comes from /u/BrosEquis when he described the best fucking way to run Venomfang from Lost Mines of Philanderers.
