So, my party's ancestors accepted wishes from a trickster god. What happened afterwards (between plot hook and beginning of campaign) amused the god to no end. Now that the descendants (the party) have set out on their own adventure, he's of course looking to have some more fun.
What I'm planning to do is have occasional quests involving the party "fixing" a problem that this god caused. He of course caused these problems knowing that the party would be along shortly, and would have to deal with them. I'm planning for these to be silly fun and not combat focused. I'm planning on signaling that one of these things are about to happen by having something ridiculous or silly occur as the party is approaching the quest location.
What I have so far:
A student wizard is having difficulties learning summoning spells. This god shows the wizard how to cast a summoning spell. Wizard summons a mischevious magic being of appropriate CR that immediately begins causing the townsfolk minor and bizarre annoyances (think like the shitty plot hooks table annoyances).
A bard is down on his luck. Trickster god grants him an amulet that grants him a beautiful singing voice (like 20 to perform(sing)). The problem is, he can't speak without singing now. The more singing occurs around the amulet, the more powerful it becomes, increasing its effect range. This effects the party as well.
The god disguises himself as a shopkeeper and tries to sell things to the party. Whatever they buy will appear to be great at first, but is cursed. The curse will cause an effect that would normally be a minor annoyance, but is a large hindrance to an upcoming objective.
Any suggestions on other things I could do?
Edit: I'm looking for silly, fun, episodic things. I have no problem with blatantly stealing from adapting other media, but I really don't want to be too obvious about it.
I want the party to eventually uncover that Trickster God's the one behind these things, and that he's the same Trickster God that granted the wishes to their ancestors many years ago. Things will eventually get more serious as I build him up to be the final BBEG.
