A friend of mine setting up a one shot doesn't want the players to obviously be SUPER broken, but doesn't want us to be bare bones characters either. He wants a rough idea of how much gold each of us should start with to "buy" magic items, along with anything else we might need, in the character building process. Is there a good blanket gold amount anyone would suggest OR even just suggest how many items per? Like 1 very rare and X whatever else, choose 1 or 2 rare items, but if you get 2, you cannot get a very rare, etc. Any advice would be appreciated! He is a newer DM, so any advice that makes it kinda simple for the players (including myself) to follow would be appreciated 😁
