So..........
Running Wild Beyond the Witchlight...and the warlock used "beast speech" and walked up to the giant snails.....because of course he did.
The sourcebook did not take that into consideration.
I had to improve something on the fly, asking myself the question every DM does, "what motivates a giant racing snail?"
I settled on them constantly saying:
"banana...banana....banana...gotta go fast..." and one asking "who the fuck stole my coffee?" thinking the carnival would use banana's the way dog tracks use mechanical rabbits, and they'd be hyped up on caffeine.
He proceeded to threaten one with a dagger (nat20 because OF COURSE IT WAS) saying "if you say banana one more time...." to which it replied, after careful deliberation "melon?"
My question. Did anyone else have this experience? What did you say or would say?
