So I had an idea for a potential character. I've already rand it by my DM and got the ok, but my idea is I'm gonna be a mimic, but one from here on earth. Not the forgotten realms. My idea is that they're gonna take the form of a mannequin 90% of the time, but I have proficiency with a disguise kit allowing my to pass as a human or elf easily. For my shape shifting, it works Similarly to the druid's Wild shape. I get 2 uses per short\long rest, and I can only turn into any non-living object I have studied for an hour or more. Anything with legs, I have a walking speed matching a creature of that size. And if I have no legs, I can move at a speed of 10 feet per round.
I'm curious of opinions\improvements as well as what classes\hijinks you could come up with for this race.
Edit: Changed "For my shape shifting, it works like the druid's Wild shape. I get 2 uses per short\long rest, and I can turn into any non-living object I have studied for an hour or more."
