I’m currently world building. I have a section in the middle of my world map that I’ve dubbed “The Wastes”. I see it as a desert type environment with very little life. And the life that is there is bizarre to say the least.
I originally credited this to a meteorite strike. But after a little time switched it to the crashing of a spaceship. The desolation and deformed creatures coming from the irradiated fuel rods of the ship.
I’m using this as the reason behind the creation of the orc and goblin races. As well as several other of the typical evil races in D&D.
I’m curious as to what the general consensus is on mixing in a little sci-if into your dungeons and dragons.
The Wastes wouldn’t be explored by players until much higher levels, if at all.
