Alternate Major Image uses?

Major image says that your illusions include smell, temp, and sound, but the sound cant cause thunder damage, the smell cant sicken them, and the temperature cant hurt them. So do you think it'd be possible to just use one of these effects without the image? like a longer range, bigger area, and slightly stronger prestidigitation for the smell and temp. or longer range sound than minor illusion. It might not be useful most of the time, but i feel like it might have its times.
