Asking for advice for first campaign for a new player (solo adventure)

I am working on a first time campaign for one person to introduce a new player into the game and what it is. He/she has never played before so I am doing my best for a short intro story how the character got his/her pet and how he/she turned to adventurer from escapee. Any advice on how to make it interesting for one person? Thank you very much.
