So I’ve been theory crafting my first ever campaign (and it’s homebrew I’m ambitious), it goes slow but it’s only for me and my friends and given covid we aren’t seeing each other for a long while yet.
So I was thinking on how best to relay a lot info per character they’d know based on their race, background, country of origin, etc etc. And started thinking I could make little generalized packets for each player maybe 1-2 pages of info
So as an example: let’s say there someone who plays a human from the Dukedom of Tarros (original country do not steal :p) and give them each a cultural, economic, and political little bible to reference
Cultural -Humans from this country are extremely xenophobic to other races due to their inaction during an underdark incursion into their lands
-how any race other than human in the dukedom is likely a drow slave or are soon to be dead
-the land is harsh so people in turn can be be bitter, but a more accurate definition would be durable from this and compulsory military service
Economic -some detail of how they trade with an Eastern continent
-that most of their trade is in marble mining and carving, and some grain
-that most villages have to be self sustaining given the environment
Political
-that the dukedom is controlled by about 8 different lords called the accursed lords and are under the control of the King in the capital alekdounam
a location index
that the recent wars outcome of a bloody stalemate and depending if they were from upper or lower society, how much they know about the slow dethawing of racial bias and hatred in governance from a pragmatic viewpoint
Obviously it’d be a bit more fleshed out than this but that the gist Of it. I like the idea but I feel like it may be a bit controlling like one of those dm’s who should write a book kinda move. I know you in general provide a big bible for everyone but it’s always felt a little clunky for me and I felt personalization may be a bit more concise.
So thoughts?
