Villains are usually cartoonishly evil, which is what makes them easy to play, but a request from a player has got me stuck, as I don't quite know how to roleplay his backstory character.
His PC is a househusband and married to an adventurer, before he himself decided to go out and have his own adventures. While on them, he found his husband at a tavern, which is how we ended the session.
Now the PC wants his hubby to be a bit of a douche and want him to stay at home for him. I love the idea and believe there is plenty to explore within the theme, but this kind of scenario is difficult to roleplay in, especially for someone who has never had anything close to the experience, especially when the trope is usually with a man and a woman, and I don't know how much it should change with two guys. Roleplaying a maniac, or a necromancer trying to reach lichdom is much easier than roleplaying something that exists irl.
Do you guys have any tips? My biggest worries right now is being too much of an asshole ("Go back home and make my food, boi") or too soft ("I don't want you to be in danger") though the latter can be used as manipulation, which sounds even harder to do .-.
