How do you guys feel about players dictating what they’re going to roll to the DM instead of describing player action and waiting for the DM to tell them what to roll?

Post Body

Not sure if it’s been discussed here before but I noticed players dictate to the DM during sessions what they’d like to roll such as “I’m going to roll perception” or “can I roll sleight of hand to pickpocket him?” And most DM’s seem to not care about it but I personally dislike it since it ruins RP. As a DM I’ve made it a house rule that when a player dictates what they’re going to roll it automatically fails regardless of how high they roll. I’d like to know what other DM’s and players feel about this thing? Is it just me that’s driven crazy by this?
