I am currently playing a halfling Cavalier in my game of Pathfinder. The party dynamic is a ranged Bard (who doesn't heal), a Magus, a Gunslinger, a Rogue, and then my character. I picked a Cavalier because we needed a tank. (And classic knigts are cool, okay!?)

After one particularly tough fight where I got hit by friendly fire from the team bard, a shot from his enchanted bow that would have actually dropped him, he decided to heal his 7 damage. So I decided "Alright, time to duel class into cleric." (This isn't trying to bash the player, we're besties out of the game and he plans on retiring the character after this arc.)

So, I go and find a church in game to try and see what clerical arts there are, as my character is canonically agnostic. Well, when I finally found a non-racist clergy member to teach me, he informs me that I need a belief in my life to live for to make the magic work.

That's where being a cavalier comes in handy, because they have an Order with a specific edict that they must abide by. Well, I chose the Order of the Dragon. Sounds badass, right? Well, the order's edict is simple: You fight for your friends.

So, using this one little edict, allowed me to channel my beliefs and become a cleric knight. So, in the end, Friendship is Magic.
