I had a lot of fun DMing a oneshot, which went really well, so my DM invited me to make a full campaign. I was super excited, worked hard on maps, plot and NPCs. With inspirations from Jhin from League of Legends and Ib, a RPG maker horror game, I ended up making a bit of a madman's funhouse, with puzzles, ball jointed doll enemies, poetry and the boss having a gun and a golem (he was an artificer and the campaign was steampunk). Experienced DMs reading this probably already recognize one of my mistakes; this all sounds really good, but it doesn't establish a full world to engage the players in. Essentially, it was good, for a oneshot. We play through, and it goes fairly well, but... I didn't have fun. I was a ball of stress throughout the whole session, and didn't like seeing my big bad die, even though that's what they're made to do. It turns out I was so invested in the character that I ended up essentially playing him.
I ended up handing the campaign over to my Co-DM, who has far more experience than me. If anything, this experience shows that I can make good oneshots, and that I can play well, but I guess some people are just not made to DM.
