Sci-Fi Prison Ideas Wanted

Hey all,
I will be running a Sci-Fi Prison session soon and would like my players to stay a few sessions. What would be some cool concepts / npcs / side quests for them to explore during their stay.
The prison is part of a large medical / research vessel belonging to a futuristic Scientific research company inspired by Japanese culture. They take 'willing' candidates from homeworlds and attempt to achieve symbiosis with a alien host. (venom style)
