Let's say we're optimizing a level 5 Hexblade Glaivelock with Polearms Master and Thirsting Blade. How should we think about taking/using Hexblade's curse and Hex (the spell), given that using either will require giving up a bonus action for one or two turns in a row.
Hexblade's Curse seems like a no-brainer since you get improved critical and HP on death and the small bump in damage. Is it much worth it to spend a known spell on Hex and use that second bonus action for it? It seems like it's worth it in a long fight against a single opponent (your per round average damage is up with both running on the single creature), but I wonder if some other spell might be more help even in one of those fights.
