About to have my second session tomorrow, and to keep the players interested I have filtered in some mundane magical items throughout the campaign further down the line. Nothing crazy, and nothing that is a weapon. Stuff like a key that will unlock any door, but only has a 5% chance of working, and cant ne used on the same door twice. Some stones that glow when they are near one another. A Cape that can turn into a pillow for 8 hours once per day. Silly easy stuff like that. My question here being, when is a good time to give your players magical weapons/armor, and how do you properly scale it for them? They're currently level one, I'm hoping to start giving them some more meaningful items by level 3 or 4, is this too early? Too late? Do I have merchants sell them? Have random monsters drop them? When they attune themselves to it do i let them know what it does? When is a good time to give them a bag of holding and should it be sold to them or gained off a corpse? So many questions, and i thank you all for considering them.
