Let me start by saying that I'm running 5e and with very little experience. Infact I'm brand new to dming, starting the first campaign and I'm filled with worry. So far I've made a small town and a small city for my players to hop in between. However I'm concerned that they're going to sidebar the whole town and go right to the city, how would I try and keep them in the town helping out the towns folks with their needs without seeming like I'm railroading them? I have about 4 quests in the town for them to do, as well as the main quest of the town itself. Which I feel is a pretty decent amount, the issue I'm coming to is the city. I have about 3 so far and I cant for the life of me come up with anymore that would make sense, I feel like the campaign will end up being too short and that I need some other quick little quests to supplement their time in the city. What kind of small supplemental quests would any of you throw in there? And I bring too paranoid? Please let me know.
