So ive recently made a short adventure or part of an larger adventure describing a small town fallen into darkness, id love some ideas and opinions on what i do with it. anyway here it is :)
Ghost town of Qual
- The ghost town of Qual is the remains of a once small farmers town that got infected with a plague, some say that a necromancer is whoâs to blame for the atrocities that have happened there some sayit was the wrath of evil gods. It is now the place of roving zombies and other ghastly beings. The few who have come close enough to bear wittiness to the now undead denizens of Qual tell of a large hulking being dressed in butchers clothing and varrying a hammer twice the size of a normal man.
NPC list
(CN) Kantra. One of the few living inhabitants of Qual, this scrawny man with almost no hair left has stayed alive by staying hidden in a basement of an abandoned tavern. He survives but with the cost of his sanityâŚ
(CE) âThe Sewn manâ Once a humble butcher living in Qual, as the Necromancer slowly drove the village into madness this once friendly inhabitant of Qual became crazed he started gathering up the corpses of the sick and started making flesh-golems for his master. He now wanders the town patrolling the streets and ârepairingâ some of the âoutdatedâ flesh-golems who have succumbed to rotâŚ
(NE) âThe Necromancerâ. Few know his real name and none know where he came from. His real name is âKrumâ and he is the long lost son of the villages huntmaster. When one of the hunts went south he was left behind by his own father as he was dragged away into darkness by creatures of the night. All that is said is that one day a hooded figure came to the village and bought a room at the local in, soon sickness started to spread in the small town. People turning crazy, friends started murdering each other, the once healthy turned feverishly sick and after months of tormenting agony the town fell into darkness as the hooded figure remainedâŚ
Objevtives and nearby places
âThe Gregory farmâ This farm was once owned by a family of five who maintained a large portion of land just outside Qual, as such they where not affected by the sickness that spread within the village instead they where forced to help the necromancer with his horrid rituals. At first they might seem like people desperate for help since the necromancer has taken one of their children, or so they believe, as a matter of fact their youngest son have become the apprentice of the necromancer taking in his teachings. This mad family will do anything to get their son back. Even trade a few adventurerss for himâŚ
âThe ghoul denâ This underground den is placed in a nearby forest to protect the ghouls from the sunlight during the day. Around 50 ghouls reside within this underground chamber, this also happens to be the place in which some of the towns residents fled when they realized the terrible fate that had become both them and their once blooming town. In here are some notes and scribbles found from the villagers describing the decent of the village and also some useful information on the hooded figures real identity and what might harm himâŚ
âThe fleshworksâ I what was once the butchers shop is now the homestead of âThe sewn manâ here he constructs his horrid creations of flesh as well as maintain when he isn't walking the streets of Qual. On the top floor of the building is an untouched room that shows the mans life before he succumed to darkness, in a journal of his you can read of his slow decent into madness as every page is filled with the descriptions of the village state slowly turning into the writings of a mad man craving for blood and flesh the last pages are barley readable as they are smeared with blood. Here you can also find the remains of his family placed in their beds on the second floor, untouched by man but not by time as their rotting carcasses lay resting in individual beds. The shop itself is filled with severed limbs and hanging bodies drained of blood, the gutters on the floor everfilled with the blood of those who venture to close to this forgotten townâŚ
âthe laboratory of Krumâ The once cheerful âfour leaf clover innâ has now become the respite of Krum, the hooded necromancer uses this building for his wicked experiments and rituals the house itself is mainly used as a facade for this dreadful mans laboratory. The lower levels of the building has been vastly expanded into a gargantuan mausoleum. Here some of his most horrid work can be seen, towering monstroseties summoned from the deepest corners of the shadowfell here he looks to perfect his plague testing it on captured human specimen. Not everyone dies of the different patogens he creates some become large grotesque beings that serve as âsecurityâ in his underground kingdom.
