Tldr: point but is dumb and isn't fun
Ok so we're starting a new campaign and my dm said we were gonna be using point buy. I did the thing and it was needlessly complicated. Mind you it wasn't actually complicated at all but I didn't get why each level can't just be worth one point. I get it's for Balance and whatever but it's dumb. So I finish my dude and look at overall mediocre stats with 16 in my highest stat (aasimar cleric btw) and wasn't very happy with it. So back to my point: how is this any better than rolling? You don't have any fun rng, it lends itself towards min maxing by letting you just put all your points in the 2 or 3 stats you want or you end up with 10s and 12s across the board.
Edit: ok yeah I get the reasons for it I just don't care much for it. It obviously isn't a deal breaker I'll roll with it (No pun intended) thanks for all the response yall
