Post Body

So last night was our groups first real Go at DnD and man what a blast! Everyone from the DM to all the PCs are new and it took us a bit to get the wheels going but once we did...what a blast! I was super proud of 1/2 of one encounter...

Traveling to town we came across a group of goblins in the forest. They where four of them, separated into groups of two. Me (rogue) and the Ranger Flanked left while the dwarf and druid went right. Previously we decided to take one captive to interrogate, so wee needed to keep one alive.

Cue Rogue.

Using the cover of the forest I get in behind one pair of goblins and hastily climb a nearby tree. Quiet as a mouse I perch on a branch and lie in wait for the goblins to make their way over. While I wait, I fashion a noose from the silk rope I have. All my years on the sea have made ropes and knot tying second nature for me so it takes no time at all. Eventually one of the goblins makes his way over, separated from his partner just enough I drop my noose down and lasso him around the neck and in an instant pull him up and into the branches. It caught him so off guard he was yanked right out of his shoes. I Immediately hit him with a KO blow to the head and drape him over a branch...we Have our prisoner. I then give the cue to the Ranger to take the next one out...stepping out to make the shot the Ranger steps on a twig....CRACK! - initiative -

I managed to make a high Initiative roll so I went first. The closest goblin to the ranger was an archer so he was a high priority target. Thinking quick on my feet, I tie the rope the goblin is attached to, to a higher branch, and push him out aiming a the archer down below (hoping for a pendulum battering ram effect).

(cue bad roll)

Acting too fast I didn't check to the length of my rope. I pushed the goblin out the tree, then looked over to the ranger and gave him a thumbs up! The goblin on a rope promptly goes straight down into the dirt with a hollow thud, the slack in the rope piling up on top of him :P

As usual the ranger rolls his eyes at me and the fight goes on.

Who knew story telling was so fun :D
