Quick Power Stone Question

I'm a low level psion right now, level 4. However I have 3000 gp, enough to buy an 8th level power stone. It's considered a major item with 1d6 powers. So I'm wondering, if I buy it do I get 1d6 casts of that power? or do I pay for each one? Also does it have all the same casts? or if I roll a 4 can I pick 4 different level 8 powers?
