Put together some stats for the last 16 months of my in-person campaign group. We play 2x a month so I compiled the numbers for the last 32 sessions. We have had only two completely cancelled sessions (one was bc we were down to 1 person and one was bc I was ghastly ill), and a few scheduled skipped ones because of holidays (that were often made up on a later date).
Our attendance policy is that if we have at least 3 players, we are definitely playing. When we get down to 2 is usually when the discussion starts of cancelling, but I as the DM am still willing to DM for 2 players. We had 5 players and recently increased to 6. These numbers have been rounded slightly.
Full Table: 16%
Missing 1: 44%
Missing 2: 28%
Missing more: 12%
As you can see, we have only had 5 sessions with a full table. For 14 sessions, we've been missing 1 player (not always the same person, there is a large variety of reasons why people have missed sessions).
Many D&D campaigns end in stagnation because the group cancels for one person and they never get to play. If we cancelled the whole session for missing (at least) one player, we'd have played 5 sessions in 16 months.
Is your table like this, or do you have more/less attendance?
[edited post bc reddit destroyed that table of numbers after I posted lol]
