Of course, this is all up to personal preference and play style but I'm curious.
One of my players expressed that he needs combat every session to be happy. I've started to realize (now that I'm not a forever DM) that I feel similarly as a player (multiple sessions in a row of no combat kind of annoy me). Some of my players are happy with multiple combat-free sessions in a row (though a rare occurrence). Combat doesn't have to be long, even just having one combat that lasts at least one round will satisfy my player.
How important is it for you to have combat every session?
