So I just watched my first game with a group of friends the other day and am very interested in dnd now. I asked the DM if I could make a character and jump in and he obliged.

I'd like to make something unique that isn't too much like the others though to keep it interesting. But I also had a few ideas of what type I wanted to be. I also have exactly 0 experience with designing a character so I need help!

Right now we have a gunslinger, a halfling rogue, a summoner who mainly plays through his summoned pet, and a tank type(can't remember exact class off the top of my head). I was thinking I would like to be some sort of spellcaster, though I'm not sure if there are different types. Also, I have no idea on the race.

Any help or suggestions would be great!
