How would contingency and scry interact?

Running this from a BBEG perspective.
Could I say something like "if player x begins fighting a creature, cast scry on them"? It would trigger regardless of my precise knowledge, theoretically. But I don't know if the circumstances have to be present around the caster or known to them.
