So I've got a fairly new group of players. A couple have a few campaigns under their belt, one has played for a year or so, and another is brand new.

And my problem is that unless it's a major point during the session, they're steamrolling all over any attempts to rp on my part or describe the world around them.

For example, in our first session the party was given a quest by the adventurers guild to go kill a monster. Before they left the rogue pulled up the weapons list online and said "I want to go buy some shurikens! Where's the armory?" (Cutting me off mid-sentence as I was explaining the world map and the surrounding area). I had to kind of push them into role-playing a bit and have them ask around town for an armory (which consisted of the rogue approaching every townsperson they could find and just saying "where's the armory?") I played the townsfolk as being weirded out (as one would be if random strangers just started demanding answers from you) but eventually explained that as this was a small town, there was no real armory save for the weapons kept by the royal guard. But there was a small smithy near the market. Cue more just running up and demanding things, cutting me off mid sentence as i was trying to give a bit of description to the area.

Am I doing something wrong here? I'll admit I'm a fairly new dm (I've run a couple of modules, but this is my first homebrew) and while I didn't expect my players to be hanging on my every word, I didn't expect them to completely disregard every detail in the entire world. Or is this just how dnd games go?
