Hello everyone, I had a question about death saving throws.
I'm still somewhat new to 5e (spent most of my ttrpg time with pathfinder) and I want to make sure I'm understanding some situations with death saves correctly.
If I'm reading the rules correctly, if a PC falls unconscious and is hit with a melee attack (if the attacker is within 5 feet) the attack automatically hits and is an automatic crit, which makes the PC fail two death saving throws. Is that correct?
Also, if a player takes damage from another attack, (one that wouldn't count as a critical) does it immediately make them fail a save or just force them to roll?
Thanks!
