I recently created a world where i have a very long night (month of nighttime long) setting , i ended up banning the twiglight cleric because i at least feel like 300ft of sharable darkvision semi makes the dark setting obsolete (yes i know tons of races have dark vision but not that far out. I would love to know any reasons you lot have stopped things , from mechanics to reason they dont fit your world
I had a campaign where playing an Elf was off limits. Half-elf was fine but full elf was a no go. Only because due to story events unknown to the players, elves had been cursed and turned into feral deep dwelling creatures dubbed as "Underlings". When the reveal happened they were all shocked and the pay off was well worth it. But they finished the campaign, killed the BBEG, and saved the world so elves have returned for future campaigns in the world.
