I need help planning the next plot point of a story arc going on in the background of my homebrew world of Vuuldonia. Spoilers!! if you happen to be one of my players!!! . . . .
I have a time traveling NPC(Aadim), (ala terminator meets Loki series story and vibes of Minority Report), whose target is an NPC(Loon) the players are working with. Loon is the target due to the "future crime'' of kidnapping a royal child and setting off a massive devastating war sooner than the "Celestial Timeline" plans for.
Players have run into Aadim twice now. Once shortly after rescuing Look from kidnappers. They defeated him (as I had planned). The second time he looked different enough they weren't sure it was the same person. Aadim was successful in dealing a critical blow to Loon and vanished (ala time stop and a teleport), Players were successful in healing Loon. (Not knowing his true ties or ambitions obviously)
After discussion, Loon decides he is going to go into hiding/use an alias and try to "figure out" why he and an associate were both attacked, the latter not surviving, and gives various plot hooks to players.
So question is - Should Loon still be ambitious enough to still kidnap? Or drastic goal change? Should Aadim learn Loon is alive and saved by players, possibly making players new target? I have it where Aadim updates/adepts after every encounter, sticking with same vibe just various abilities (also have planned ways to hinder this).
Appreciate any thoughts!
